Stephen Mc Carron’s I.W.D. Limited (Company Number 308502) struck off by Companies Office

Mc CARRON’S
STRIKE OFF

A BEAMING Stephen Mc Carron, md of internet hosting firm 365 Hosting Ltd(t/a Hosting365), was recently pictured in The Sunday Business Post shaking hands with Tánaiste Mary Harney. The accompanying article noted the company’s €3m investment in a new office in Park West in Dublin but failed to mention that another of Mc Carron’s IT firms, IWD Ltd , was recently struck off the Companies Register for failing to file accounts.

Back in 2001, IWD – in which McCarron was a stakeholder and director along with Aoife Travers – was subject of hard-hitting criticism from Patrick Lane, who resigned as auditor of the firm that year. One of the reasons that Lane gave for his resignation was that he was “unable to gather all the information and explanations” required for the purposes of the audit. He also said that he was unable to satisfy himself “with regard to appropriateness of a series of payments made to or on behalf of one of the directors without the knowledge of the board”, and that he was “unable to determine the tax liability attaching to these payments”

Mc Carron told Goldhawk that he had hotly disputed the auditor’s claims and the issues raised appear to have been sorted out quickly enough, as IWD got a clean bill of health from auditors Ryan Glennon, who replaced Lane on the 2001 audit. Furthermore, a falling out between McCarron and former director of IWD, Eoin Costello—who resigned just weeks before Lane resigned as auditor—saw Costello’s new firm, Novara Ltd, taking a legal action against McCarron and 365Hosting(t/a Hosting365). The claim was settled out of court and a confidentially agreement was signed by both parties.

Interestingly, with the Ryder Cup fast approaching Mick Smurfit may soon be taking an interest in Hosting365, which has registered the internet domain name KClub.com, forcing him to use the less internationally recognisable KClub.ie.
